The Beaches of Rena Majore
The beaches near the village
The beaches of Rena Majore are mainly two.
The main beach is the one that gives its name to the entire area. With over two kilometers of golden sand bordered by dunes and a lush pine forest, Rena Majore is perfect for long days of sun and relaxation. Its turquoise, shallow waters make it ideal for families with children.
It is directly accessible from the village of Rena Majore and also boasts a cinematic appeal: it was one of the locations chosen for the filming of the movie “The Little Mermaid”: in fact, some of the main scenes of the film were shot here, like the one where Ariel saves Eric and emerges from the water to climb onto the rock.
The beach then continues towards the famous beach known as La Baracca or del Pescatore: the name comes from the iconic fisherman’s shack located at the top of the beach with a breathtaking view, now transformed into a beautiful Beach Club.
Rena di Matteu Beach
It is accessible only on foot through a path in the pine forest, and from Rena di Matteu there is another path along the coast that leads to Cala Pischina Beach.
Monte Russu Beach
Known for its impressive rock formations and rich Mediterranean flora, Monte Russu is a beach awarded the Green Flag, symbolizing a clean environment and excellent water quality. It is an ideal place for nature lovers and those wanting a wilder, pristine beach experience.
Cala Pischina Beach
Located north of Rena Majore, this small cove. Its clear waters are an irresistible invitation for snorkeling and windsurfing enthusiasts.
Other Beautiful Beaches in Northern Sardinia
- La Liccia – is a continuation of Rena Majore beach with crystal-clear waters and surrounded by dunes.
- Naracu Nieddu – accessible along a path that crosses the pine forest, very beautiful beach
- Capo Testa and Rena Bianca at Santa Teresa Gallura are 8-10km from the structure, about 10 minutes by car;
- Porto Pollo – famous destination for wind and kite surfing.
